The Bungalow Santa Monica – Brent Bolthouse Adds Nightlife to the Westside
NIGHTLIFE | SANTA MONICA
~ BY MONICA HUNT
The grounds of the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica are a hidden gem not many people are often privy to. Unless you’re a high-profile celebrity, CEO, or other fill-in-the-blank big shot in Los Angeles, the hotel is mostly out of reach. But, with the opening of The Bungalow this past month, that snooty attitude is changing as you read this. In fact, it is probably safe to say that this is the beach house you’ve dreamt of calling home — perhaps after a long day shredding the surf, biking the shoreline, or whatever else your fantasy bohemian life entails.
At The Bungalow, you can actually experience a sliver of your imaginings.
Located along Wilshire Boulevard at the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica, with one of those quintessentially Californian views of the Pacific Ocean, The Bungalow will give you your requisite breezes, a kaleidoscope sunset, or a colossal hangover the next morning because you had one too many craft-cocktails. The overall vibe of The Bungalow is meant to evoke the cozy atmosphere of a sleepy beach spot in Los Angeles — bright Moroccan tiles, warm beach blankets, beams of cedar wood lodged in the ceiling, furniture that is mismatched (but somehow it all works in congress with everything else), and even a patio with a communal fire pit. The Bungalow is where artists, musicians, skaters, surfers, and any other beach dweller can be under one roof and simply hang out with one another.
The mastermind behind The Bungalow is Brent Bolthouse whose celebrity friends have already paid their respects to his new business venture, including DJ Jason Bentley of KCRW, LA’s favorite morning music host, and Donovan, who performed at the invite-only opening party. Despite the fanfare associated with such a popular nightlife destination (and it is very popular right now), The Bungalow is the bastion of seaside bliss where one can relax with a pitcher of margaritas, a small plate of something delicious, and a group of friends. Who needs home ownership anyway?
