Secret Things Girls Will Do For A Free Drink
NIGHTLIFE + CULTURE
~ BY MONICA HUNT
Going out isn’t cheap for women. With all the grooming, clothing, and strategy involved with the nightlife scene in Los Angeles, buying one’s own drink is just an added expense a girl just doesn’t want to deal with. However, not wanting to pay for drinks isn’t something a female can just say aloud without encountering a heap of scorn from society. So, the crafty party girl has a few tricks up her bandage dress to scoring drinks.
…there are steps to getting “asked” to the table — it usually involves a lot of flirtatious eye-contact, a pretty face, and an air about you that says, I put out on the first date.”
1. Flirt With A Guy They’re Not Attracted To
Nothing makes a girl looking for freebies happier when a nice guy opens an encounter with offering to buy her a drink. He’s thinking his purchase will give him a few moments of witty conversation that might lead to an exchange of phone numbers. The reality is, she has no intention of giving out her actual phone number to this person, but will milk this encounter for the rest of the night if it means she doesn’t have to pull out her wallet.
2. BTOB: Bring Their Own Booze
I’ve seen it happen in bars — an intrepid female alcoholic will bring her own hip flask or vodka water bottle into a bar or club and dispense drinks from her purse. She might buy a mixer from the bartender, but she won’t pay a dime for the alcohol.
3. Butter Up The Bartender/Doorman
If the male patrons of a club or bar aren’t buying her act, the moocher will turn to the bartender or doorman for free drinks or preferential service. This is a sophisticated female who is skilled in the art of getting under her victims’ skin, so much so that they’ll risk their jobs to make sure she is happily inebriated.
4. Find The Owner
Sometimes, the usual charms don’t work on bartenders, requiring the contingency plan: Hit on the owner of the bar/restaurant/club. If anyone has the authority to treat you to free stuff, it’s the owner of the establishment.
5. Hone In On The Bottle Service Customers
Women who are professional drink get-ers know to immediately seek out the VIP/Bottle Service tables like a goddamn homing pigeon. However, there are steps to getting “asked” to the table — it usually involves a lot of flirtatious eye-contact, a pretty face, and an air about you that says, I put out on the first date.
