Nightlife in Hollywood is ubiquitous, yet the common Hollywood scenester knows that a few of the top Hollywood nightclubs have tighter velvet ropes than others. With more stringent guidelines for admittance, a more exclusive guest list, and an extravagant price tag, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a long line of people waiting outside to get in. You may have to follow the tight rules, bypass an intimidating bouncer, and get friendly with the staff to get into these extremely exclusive clubs.
If you don’t have the cash to purchase table service, your best course of action is to make friends with a promoter. A quick search on Facebook and Twitter will typically point to the appropriate person. Keep in mind however, that promoters are looking for groups with a high ratio of girls to guys and tables.

Unless you have reserved a table far in advance in this upscale celebrity hotspot, be prepared to wait outside. Greystone Manor is notorious for frequent celebrity sightings and parties hosted by the likes of J.Lo, Rhianna and many more. The club also has a stringent dresscode and is infamous for attracting some of the city’s most beautiful partiers. From 10PM to 2PM, the dance floor opens up for those who prefer to cut loose over sitting at the swank vintage couches. The best nights are Thursdays and Saturdays.

Situated at the top of the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood, SkyBar often has rampant celebrity sightings, particularly rock stars and famous musicians. The SkyBar is an ivy-laden, outdoor club, decked with a pool, comfy 40s-era décor and couches where patrons have low-key fun. If you’re staying at the Mondrian, showing your hotel key at the door allows immediate admittance, as would acquiring bottle service; in all other instances, getting past the bouncer would likely be a miracle.

This burlesque nightclub is located within the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, entered via a secret passageway within a bookshelf, guarded by a “sexy librarian” as a bouncer. Although the dress code is not as strictly regulated as other exclusive clubs, this club still maintains a very tough door policy. Open on Wednesdays and Saturdays only, you will be able to get in if you have solid connections to the club or purchase bottle service ahead of time. The interior is stylized as a red-curtained vaudeville theater, and live acts include vaudeville performances, burlesque dancers, and even dancing Oompa Loompas who imitate celebrity acts such as Lady Gaga. Bottle service is even delivered by trapeze-flying Oompa Loompas. Some nights host Karaoke Rockstar games. Be wary, as drinks can get pricey.

Only 175 people maximum are allowed into this ultra-luxurious club per Tuesday and Thursday night, so make sure you get there early, even if you manage to get on the guest list. Decked in mahogany and brown leather couches, the club has the ambiance of your wealthy uncle’s study, but with fewer books, a high-end bar and more beautiful, famous faces. Arguably amongst the most low-key of the A-list Hollywood nightclubs, this club’s nondescript entrance is a plain yellow door wedged within a common hotdog establishment, Papaya King. One musical act is accommodated per night, but is not announced in advance.

This establishment is one of six Supperclubs in the world. The interior sports a “very L.A.” vibe, sporting modern chic décor and white couches. The club’s signature concept combines a fine dining atmosphere with a nightclub. Each night has a new theme, making each night a distinctly different experience, so it is advisable to call beforehand to inquire about the night’s theme. Fair warning, Supperclub LA is currently known to have some of the most intimidating bouncers in the city. Peak nights are Wednesdays and weekend nights.
