GET INVOLVED: Nothing is more rewarding than making a difference in this world.  Put your love towards someone in need by volunteering for a cause of your choice. Check out Volunteer Los Angeles to choose what you are passionate about and lend a hand.

GET CULTURED: Street Food Cinema is a brand new summer event taking place every Saturday from now thru August 25th in Exposition Park. This cool new concept combines screenings of your favorite movies, delicious food trucks, and live bands. Not to mention, a perfect place to mingle.

GET LOST: One of the most empowering things to do for yourself is to travel alone. Pack the car up with goodies and head north to San Francisco for the Outside Lands Music Festival on August 10-12. Not only will you get to see amazing performances by people like Beck, Jack White, The Walkmen, Bloc Party, and Regina Spektor, but you also will be able to enjoy an array of food, wine, beer, and art. Click here for tickets and more information.

GET A TAN: Instead of soaking up the sun on your apartment balcony, glam it up by taking your tan to the pool at the Standard Hotel. Order a pink martini, read your book, and rock out to the fun tunes they blast all day. Stick around until the evening and you are bound to make one or two friends along the way. Website

GET ALIGNED: Give your body the ultimate summer vacation by treating yourself to a Swedish or Deep Tissue massage at Brooks Massage on Beverly.

GET YOURSELF A PRESENT: With the money you would have spent on your significant other, buy yourself a few extra things at the The Rose Bowl Flea Market on the second Sunday of every month. Get lost amongst the 2,500 vintage and antique vendors set up along the outskirts of the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena.

GET CAFFEINATED: Make the most of your precious morning hours by taking a seat at Bricks and Scones in Larchmont to enjoy your morning cup and a pastry. Got work to do? Bricks & Scones has wi-fi and official “quiet zones” where people can get their work done in silence.  If you feel like chatting, make sure to set yourself up on the front patio, covered with large trees and hanging lights.

GET MOVING: Add action to your summer day by making your way over to Marina Del Rey to rent a bike for the day. In less than two hours you can bike to Venice, Santa Monica, and back. Be sure to stop and grab yourself lunch along the way! The Sidewalk Cafe  has delicious eats, lot of people, and is a safe place to park your bike for a bit.

GET A HOBBY: While you have the time, brush up on your cooking skills. The New School of Cooking is run by a really fun group of women and offers awesome recreational classes like the Fresh Pasta Workshop and Baking with Chocolate.

GET LOCAL: Grab a fresh banana/nutella crepe and drink from a raw coconut at the Main Street Farmers Market in Santa Monica. Enjoy your meal on the grass while you listen to live music and people watch. After that, the beach is only two blocks away and validates parking for Farmer’s Market Visitors.

So stop sulking and start celebrating! The day is YOURS. GO GET IT!
