5 Common Beauty Mistakes
– By Chantel Templeman
1. Not Exfoliating
The older we get the longer it takes for dead skin cells to slough off. This eventually turns your skin dull and dry looking. Give yourself a mini facial once or twice a week using a non-abrasive exfoliant.
Try Dermalogica Microfoliant $30.00 – $45.00
2. Not Using Sunscreen
Did you know that most all fine lines and wrinkles are due to sun exposure? To keep years off your face, cover up with an SPF of at least 30 while in the summer sun.
Try Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sun block SPF 30 $7.00
3. Too Much Bronzer
Everyone wants to look like they just came from the beach. But faking it can actually add years and make you look older. Instead of slathering your face with bronzer, lightly dust from the top of your temples, the bottom of your cheekbones, then down to your jaw.
Try Mac Bronzing Powder $22.00
4. Using Conditioner All Over
Most people apply conditioner, as they would shampoo… You start at the top working your way down to the bottom of your hair shaft. Since the hair that is closest to your roots is healthy, it’s best to just condition the ends of your hair where it’s more likely to be dry and damaged. This can also greatly affect those who have fine textured hair for this can weigh your hair down and make it look greasy.
5. Don’t Spray Perfume Directly Onto Skin
Avoid spraying directly onto your skin for this can result in hyperpigmentation, also known as age spots. Lightly spray the perfume in front of you and simply walk into it.
