DINING | DATING | LOS ANGELES NIGHTLIFE
The Los Angeles dating scene has reached a major crisis. It’s hard to believe there was a time where ladies were having their hair done, men were buying flowers, and reservations were made, all for a very first date! We can all agree that we are more familiar with late night drinks and post-work coffee rendezvous. What happened to a good old fashioned, hearty meal? Food is a universal language and LA is bursting with exciting restaurants to experience. So ladies put on those black dresses and gentlemen shine those shoes. Let’s put the ‘date’ back into ‘dating.’
And we’re doing all the work for you. Here are our top five hip and delicious date spots in LA.
Pace – Tucked away in the midst of Laurel Canyon, under its local upscale market, you will find this hidden Italian gem. Get your conversation started with their fabulous wine list and the basket of crayons and paper for the table. Then get more serious with their incredible pastas, like the pappardelle with lobster and zucchini. If all goes well, and you are looking to stay a while, the molten chocolate cake will make this first date unforgettable. For reservations: http://peaceinthecanyon.com/
Comme Ca – Since we are keeping things classy, why not go all out and head to the best French Brasserie in town. Its classic ambiance and witty menu will really score you points and if you’re date is boring at least your beef bourguignon or your coq au vin will be out of this world. R & D Kitchen – This intimate, dimly lit establishment is a favorite to not only the Santa Monica locals, but also Hollywood’s biggest stars. With its simple, quality menu, and fabulous wine by the glass selection, you’re date is bound to be successful. And luckily the restaurant is conveniently located next to a few bars so the night can continue if need be. http://www.hillstone.com/#/restaurants/cafeRandD/
Cooks County – This recently opened country style eating house is a perfect mix of chic and rustic. Reminiscent of a gorgeous country farmhouse, your date is bound to be pleased with its colorful fresh vegetables, while you can enjoy hearty whole-wheat pasta with lamb and figs. If you aren’t pining for the check, be sure to stay for dessert and try the beignets with chocolate and the pumpkin brioche. For reservations: http://www.cookscountyrestaurant.com/Home.html
Ink – It will be easy to impress her merely by getting a reservation at Top Chef, Michael Voltaggio’s new restaurant, Ink. His innovative and out of the box dishes have all of LA banging down the door, but once you get in there is so much to experience. The entire menu is designed to be shared and the menu itself is bound to start a lengthy conversation. Be sure to try to Kale with burrata and pumpkin seeds and the jidori chicken and waffles. http://mvink.com/
Alright, so make those phone calls, splurge for a haircut, and class bachelor life up a bit with some food infused dating.
