Top 3 Homemade Beauty Remedies
– By Chantel Templeman
1.) Strawberry Acne Masque
Why buy acne products when you can use strawberries? Strawberries are a natural source of salicylic acid, which is found in most over-the-counter acne medicines. According to Janice Cox, the author of “Natural Beauty at Home” this recipe is great for soothing skin.
1/4 cup strawberries (fresh, not frozen please)
1/4 cup sour cream or non-flavored yogurt
Mash together the strawberries and yogurt or sour cream. Spread on face and wash after 10-15 minutes.
2.) Sweet Peach Body Scrub
This scrub not only smells delicious, but the brown sugar scrubs off flaky, dry skin while the peaches give you a Vitamin C fix.
2 or 3 small peaches (peeled, pitted, and sliced)
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups almond oil
Put peach slices in a blender and blend on high for 10 seconds. Stir in brown sugar and almond oil until it is completely blended. Scoop mixture and transfer into a small bowl. Take the bowl with you into the bathroom and hop in the shower. Apply the scrub all over your body using an up and down motion. (Please note: this scrub is too grainy to use on your face). Rinse off with warm water and you will find you skin feeling so soft you can skip the body lotion! This is the definition of beauty.
3.) Magic Moisture Masque
This masque is great after a day at the beach thanks to hydrating and soothing ingredients like aloe vera gel and honey. It’s the perfect way to rehydrate skin that’s in desperate need for some moisture!
½ size avocado (peeled/pitted)
2 tbsp aloe vera gel
1 tbsp honey
2 tbsp plain oatmeal
1 tbsp grape seed oil
Mash the avocado in a bowl until it is semi-smooth. Add the aloe vera gel, honey, oatmeal and grape seed oil into mixture until it’s totally blended. Apply mixture to entire face and decolletage area and leave on for 15-20 minutes.
