There’s a New Club Coming to Town: NYC’s 1 Oak Taking Over Key Club
In the ever-shifting world of Hollywood Nightclubs, new spots are constantly re-inventing themselves and re-opening for what often appears to be just another hot minute. What’s rare is a having a venue that wasn’t already a nightclub become one. This usually has to do with LA’s liquor license and permitting situation. But with the entire live music landscape changing, Key Club on Sunset Boulevard just ran out of steam, opening the way for none other than NYC’s 1 Oak to come scoop up the location.
That’s right, as reported in Eater, New Yorkers Scott Sartiano and Richie Akiva are moving their brand even further west. They debuted a 1 Oak in Vegas in 2011 and now are moving into LA.
Taking over the space formerly occupied by the Key Club, the new West Hollywood version of 1 Oak is expected to debut in late December of 2013. Sartiano and Akiva have teamed up with Darren Dzienciol of Bootsy Bellows who clearly has experience dealing with the WeHo city council and competing with the likes of SBE, BNG, Muse, and others.
LA nightlife is a crowded field and we’re curious to see if these guys can bring something new to the table.
