Since The Churchill opened last October, this 3rd Street spot has been bustling with patrons and is about to get even busier with a revamped breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu debuting October 4th. The mastermind behind the menu overhaul is none other than Bruce Kalman, the same person who brought comforting small plate fare to The Misfit in Santa Monica and savory slices of the good stuff at Urbano Pizza Bar.

Not only is the food getting a facelift, but the cocktail and beverage menu will see some minor improvements as well. Mia Sarazen is handling the crafting of drinks and the restaurant is adding coffee and espresso options, serving local coffee from LaMill in Silverlake. You’ll probably want to sip that fancy coffee with pastries and sweets provided by Cake Monkey Bakery, another local LA business. 

Foodies have quite a bit to look forward to. Kalman’s menu will employ “fresh, market-driven ingredients, seasonal cooking and local purchasing,” ensuring that all the ingredients work to provide you with an unrivaled experience. Given Kalman’s track record — that won’t be a hard goal to accomplish. The fare at The Churchill will be varied, focusing on small dishes and salads for afternoon diners and bigger main entrees in the evening. New menu highlights (just to whet your palate) include the Okinawan Sweet Potato Gnocchi with bacon, butternut squash, forest mushrooms, pecorino, the Organic Chicken with salsify, crispy brussel sprouts, candied kumquats, Morro Bay Sablefish with black olive, farro, heirloom eggplant, raisin mostarda, and Casserole of Duck Confit, with sausage and beans. Not feeling any of those? Will Duck Sausage Pizza with goat cheese and black mission figs change your tune? It should. 

If all else fails, then just order dessert — the Apple and Bacon Upside Down Cake with bourbon glaze and fresh whipped cream just sounds like a dream, right?
