SNEAKERHEAD – Air Jordan “Knicks”
A few months back the Jordan brand stirred up sneakerheads everywhere when a photo came out of famed movie director and sneaker lover, Spike Lee, holding up two never-before-seen colorways of his signature Jordan sneaker the “Spizike.” Since then the shoe world has anxiously waited for the release. Although some may not be too familiar with the “Spizike,” it was Spike Lee’s character Mars Blackmon from the film “She’s Gotta Have It” which helped launch the success of the brand in the early years. Spike appeared as Mars in many Nike Commericals as Michael Jordans “Wing man”. The iconic character is now immortalized with his own sneaker. The “Spizike” is a mixture of 6 different air Jordan’s: 3 (midsole), 4 (Wings), 5(Uppers), 6 (Tongue), 9 (Pull Tab), and 20 (Laser on the inside liner).
In honor of Spike Lee’s beloved New York Knicks Basketball Team, the new sneakers will release in both Blue Ribbon and in Orange Flash-Black-White. Each one is a reverse of the other. The Blue pair will feature a suede upper black and white mid sole and Icy blue bottom, while the Orange pair will feature a tumbled leather upper with the same bottom. Each set will also feature a unique, black and white laser pattern on the inner sockliner.
The “Spizikes” will be released THIS Saturday, November 5th, 2011 at all Jordan brand retailers. They will release as a pack but you will also be able to buy them individually for ($175). Although the price is a bit steep, I would not recommend passing on these. The colorways are hot and they will definitely go fast. Get there early because they are limited and they are a hot commodity. Check out your local Footlocker, House of Hoops, or Finishline for store hours and availability. You can find me at the Beverly Center copping a pair of each for myself!
Good Luck and Rock’em Well.
