#RealTalk: LA Insider Profile – Jayde Nicole: Playmate, Fitness Guru, and Partner at AV Hospitality
LOS ANGELES + INTERVIEW SERIES
~ BY DANIEL FARR
For our LA Insider profile this month we’re featuring an interview with one of this city’s top women in hospitality, Jayde Nicole. Jayde is a model (2008 Playmate of the year), owner of Jayde Nicole Fitness, and one of the owner/partners at AV Hospitality – a hospitality group that currently owns and operates properties in Hollywood, Cabo San Lucas, and Honolulu, HI.
1.) Where are you originally from and what brought you to Los Angeles?
I am originally from Port Perry, Ontario, Canada and I came out to Los Angeles when I won Playmate of the year in 2008.
I have been interested in Nightlife and Hospitality my entire life. After becoming a Playmate I was lucky enough to travel the world hosting at different nightclubs. I learned a lot from seeing all of these venues, different styles, design, successes and failures as well as meeting and becoming friends with a lot of people in the industry. I starting creating and throwing party’s and hosting at several different venues in Los Angeles and Las Vegas and it just progressed from there.
3.) What’s the little-known secret to your success?
I think being in this industry, especially as a woman you have to be extremely persistent, work hard, and have a really tough skin.
4.) Your most commonly Instagram-ed food item?
Baked Deserts! I love to bake, I find it relaxing.
Umm I feel like I think I am a 10 when I am having fun in the club, but in all reality maybe a 5 or 6 lol.
6.) How would you define your personal style?
Not for everyone, lol. I am a perfectionist with very high standards.
7.) The favorites: Restaurant, Dive Bar, Nightclub, and Shopping Destination in LA? Go…
Nobu or Fig & Olive depending on my mood. I don’t do dive bars lol. AV Nightclub. And shopping hands down, Robertson or the Beverly Center.
8.) Day drinker OR late night rager?
9.) Band/Artist you would scream like a 12-year-old girl to see?
10.) Single, Taken, or It’s Complicated? What is the most important quality you look for in someone you date?
Taken. The most important quality I look for is loyalty.
11.) When is the last time you got hit on? What happened?
I feel like being in hospitality I am oblivious to when I am being hit on lol I always smile and say thank you and then walk away
12.) Would you rather be poor and happy OR rich and 99 problems?
Tough question, I feel like with money always comes issues, but you can still be happy
13.) Worst part about LA? Best part?
LA is a very tough city, it either eats you up and spits you out or you live and die for it. Luckily for me I am one of those live and die in LA people. I love everything about it. The food, nightlife, people, the beach, the mountains, and mostly the weather!
14.) What’s next for you?
I am currently working on another nightlife venue as well as a restaurant to add to the AV Hospitality family.
