LA’s Best Beachside Restaurants
LOS ANGELES LIFESTYLE | DINING
– By Adrien Finkel
Summer is here. Loud and proud. Time to take off those layers, slip into that new swimwear, and bolt for to the beach.
Alas, there you are, staring at the clock behind the desk in your freezing cold office. Your mind wanders off to sounds of ocean breezes, warm sand between your toes, and sun bouncing off your chest. Well ladies and gents, I am here to tell you can have your cake and eat it too. There is work to be done, but you’ve gotta eat! Am I right? So take your meals beachside for a taste of what California does best: cuisine, sunshine, and gorgeous views!
Here is my list of LA’s BEST BEACHSIDE RESTAURANTS:
The Reel Inn – Located right on the PCH, The Reel Inn is a super relaxed joint to enjoy a delicious meal outside. This casual seaside spot serves fresh fish that is caught daily and prepared in traditional Baja Mexican style. The Reel Inn is always busy but never crowded, so no worries about a long wait. Make your way there for a great place to soak in the sun and taste California’s Freshest.
18661 Pacific Coast Highway
Malibu, CA 90265
The Lobster – The lobster isn’t on the beach but its right on top of it. Located on the Santa Monica Pier, The Lobster not only has the best Bloody Mary’s in town, but their seafood is out of this world. The happy hour is just another reason to stop in. Because of its location, The Lobster definitely attracts tourists, but the food is truly fantastic with a delicious Sunday brunch to boot! Make sure to try the Dungeness Crab Enchiladas or The Herb Grilled American Lobster.

Paradise Cove – This is one of my ultimate go-to spots in Malibu! Paradise Cove takes dining beachside very seriously. At this fun, laid back establishment you will find yourself eating on the shore. Literally. Grab a group of friends and enjoy your meal (they have fabulously huge portions) with sand beneath your feet. And feel free to get up and dip your toes in the water too! This place is jam packed during the summer, so get there early because they don’t take reservations! Parking is a bit pricey, but the entire dining experience is well worth it! When your meal is done, make sure to wander the private coves nearby. They even have a reggae band that plays at night!

One Pico at Shutters Hotel – Nestled between the sand and the surf One Pico, is a glamorous spot to dine beachside. Whether it’s a hot date, a business meeting, or dinner with friends, One Shutters makes for an unforgettable experience. Sink into one of their large wicker chairs and pinstripe couches and make sure to order a glass from their extensive wine list. This Gatsby-esque establishment is fancy, yet casual, so you can feel free to wear either your Sunday best or a bikini under your favorite sundress. Don’t forget to order the Main Lobster Club at Sunday Brunch! It’s to die for!

The Penthouse at the Huntley - So the Penthouse is not located smack on the beach, BUT it gives you the absolute best views of the ocean! And this is definitely a place you are going to want to get dressed for. Step into your colorful summer frock and take in the atmosphere of this all-white chic restaurant at the tippy-top of the Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica. Enjoy your Bananas Foster French Toast and Acai Spirit with Cucumber Honey Lemonade amongst the floor to ceiling windows and ultra modern decor. The Penthouse at the Huntley is the perfect place to take in LA’s stunning ocean views without having to get your feet wet!

So get out of the office and make your way into the sunshine at one of these amazing ocean-side joints. Even better, make a weekend of it and hit up all five! Cheers to full bellies and a solid dose of Vitamin D.
Happy Summer, Angelinos!
