At DailyISO, we love to give people a behind the scenes look at some of the successful LA Insider’s who’ve made it in the worlds of music, nightlife, fashion and all-around lifestyle. Their unique perspectives both inspire and inform us as we continue on our respective journey’s in life. Every story is different and each is unique.
We sat down with fashion designer and LA local boy, Blayne Siegel, who’s built quite a brand in his Kinetix Clothing brand over the past few years. In fact, he recently partnered with Warner Brothers Studios to create a collection of premium Batman apparel inspired by the highly anticipated theatrical release of The Dark Knight Rises. Here’s his take on all things Kinetix, Batman, and the great city of Los Angeles:

1.) When did you first realize you wanted to work in fashion and what was your educational background?
I always had an eye for fashion and being creative growing up. I painted, sculpted, and drew often. When I realized I could get paid doing something I loved, which is being creative, it was a homerun.
2.) What was the first piece of fashion you ever made?
A graphic tee
3.) Starting out, what were your original ambitions for Kinetix?
To add an aesthetic to the market place that was unique and identified with casual luxury.
4.) ”Casual luxury” What’s that all about?
It’s all about premium fabrics and a feel combined with great design and fit. Where form and function effortlessly meet as one.
5.) When was your defining moment when you realize you’ve really got something special?
When I walked into Fred Segal on my first sales appointment and they picked it up.
6.) In a marketplace where many US companies have outsourced production overseas, why is it important to you to have Kinetix made in Los Angeles?
It is important to keep the money spent on jobs and production here to support our economy and its resurgence. There is nothing better than seeing “American Made” on our label.
7.) What’s this we keep hearing about Kinetix’s involvment with Warner Brother Studios and the next Batman movie, “The Dark Knight Rises?
We are so blessed to have been chosen to have the license for Batman over the next 2 years. We will be producing high end premium clothes and will be doing cross branded events. Definitely a feather in the cap.
8.) What trends in fashion do you see as big for 2012?
Just be yourself

10.) What’s your favorite thing about Los Angeles? If we had one day in LA, where should we eat and what should we do?
I love the diversity of this great city. You can grab breakfast and coffee at the Farmers Market at the Grove, do some light shopping at the Beverly Center, go hiking at Runyon Canyon, and then do the rooftop Sonoma wine bar in the new Santa Monica Promenade all in one day.
